Stress, Debt, and Controlling Both.
For some, money can be a source of stress - no matter how much money they may or may not have. Stress can be brought on by worrying about money - what you are going to do with your money, where you are going to get money, how you can keep more of it, or how you are going to pay the seemingly endless parade of bills. To reduce this stress in your life, you are going to have to make your money work for you.
If you have money worries, the first step towards solving this is to create a budget. Being on a budget, and sticking to that budget, is going to help to lower your stress levels as far as you money worries are concerned. A budget is simply a list of money in and money out. A pen, a piece of paper and some honesty are all you need to create a budget.
If you have too much stress in your life because of money, you need to sit down and think about where your money comes from, and where it goes. You may have money coming in from a job, or from many other or even no other sources. The money you have coming in usually is not going to change quickly (increasing your income is beyond the scope of this article), but can be done over time. Saving money can be achieved quickly and easily - simply think about where you spend your money (money out). If you are spending a large proportion of your money on eating out, or going to the movies and you are not paying the bills, you have some serious thinking to do. You need to list all of your expenses - a written budget will identify potential areas of saving.
It can be very stressful thinking about how many bills you have, but in the end, you are going to reduce the stressful times in your life as you take control of your bills and expenses. In reviewing where and how you are spending your money, you will have to make a few decisions. One suggestion could be that you should decide you are going to find, for example, an extra $100 per month. This could mean you don't eat lunch out (bring it from home), that you don't go to the bar/pub every day (try once a week), or perhaps that you are only going to stop at the shops one day a week after work instead of every day (make it the grocery store / supermarket instead of the local convenience store). Instead of going out several times a week, try staying home and doing something for yourself. Schedule in some time especially for you to relax, to have a bath, read a book (borrow it from the library), to listen to some relaxation music, or maybe watch your favourite DVD with a friend. By reducing your bills, and reducing your expenses, this will in turn reduce the stress about money in your life. Soon you will begin to feel better about your finances - every day, little by little - as you watch your savings grow.
To lower your stress about money, you should also implement a plan that will help you create a savings account. A savings account can be started with just a few dollars a week. A glass jar, a piggy bank, or even a real bank account will do. Try putting all your coins into a piggy bank at the end of every day. Try setting up an automatic transfer of a few dollars a week from your main bank account to a new savings account. As small as those few dollars per week may seem, when you really have an emergency you don't have to stress out about money because you will have those few dollars in the savings account that will get you through that emergency time. Learn to lower your expenses, and save money. Both are great methods of removing the stress in your life and relaxing when it all comes down to money!
Thanks,
Matthew

I use guided relaxation to deal with stress - whatever area of life it's in. It REALLY helps - it can be audio or visual, but audio is generally better.
Taking the time to actually figure out how to reduce my stress has given me such a better quality of life.
I can't recommend it highly enough to anyone and the info here is great.
Any thoughts?
